I am a theoretical astrophysicist working in the field of planetary sciences. Since November 2024, I hold a postdoctoral position as a 51 Pegasi b Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Astronomy and Steward Observatory at the University of Arizona (UA). I am also affiliated with the Theoretical Astrophysics Program (TAP) at UA.
My research interests lie in various aspects of astrophysical dynamics and celestial mechanics, with a primary focus on the formation, evolution, and architecture of planetary systems. My current research investigates how gravitational interactions between planets and astrophysical disks -- such as the gaseous protoplanetary disks in which planets form and the leftover debris disks of asteroids and comets -- affect the evolution and dynamics of planets and, in the process, sculpt observable features within these disks. Prior to my current position, I was an Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Jena, Germany (Jan. 2023 - Oct. 2024), and a remote research affiliate at the Department of Physics at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (USM) in Valparaiso, Chile (Apr. - Aug. 2022). I completed my PhD in May 2022 at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP), University of Cambridge, working with Prof. Roman Rafikov and Prof. Mark Wyatt. At Cambridge, I was also a member of Darwin College and a Gates Cambridge scholar. Prior to that, I completed my Master's degree in theoretical physics at the American University of Beirut (AUB), Lebanon, working with Prof. Jihad Touma, and my undergraduate studies in physics at the Lebanese University (LU).
I am originally from Lebanon, born and raised in Beirut to a family of Armenian descendance. When not doing science, I enjoy writing poetry, reading anything related to history and politics, traveling and exploring the world, experimenting with culinary arts, expanding my language skills, savouring coffee, and dreaming of a better and more just world.
